OUTSTANDING MUSIC COMPOSITION FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Alex Weston for (“The Peak”), Expats
Julia Newman and Thomas Newman for (“Pilot”), Feud: Capote vs. the Swans
Carlos Rafael Rivera for (“Her and Him”), Lessons in Chemistry
Jeff Russo for (“I A HARD MAN TO FIND”), Ripley
Nick Chuba, Atticus Ross and Leopold Ross for (“Broken to the Fist”), Shôgun

AND THE WINNER IS:

NICK CHUBA, ATTICUS ROSS AND LEOPOLD ROSS FOR ("BROKEN TO THE FIST"), SHÔGUN

These are the first wins for Nick Chuba, Atticus Ross and Leopold Ross. Atticus Ross was previously nominated for composing Watchmen (2020).

The trio of music composers for Shôgun really had a hard task to add music to an already epic story and manage to match that epicness. This task the three composers suddenly succeeded at as the music felt so major. With the beautiful strings featured and beat of drums each piece of music featured on the series was so appealing.

This is the second combined win for Howard Cummings and Regina Graves. They previously won together for The Knick (2016) and were also nominated together for The Knick (2014). Cummings was also nominated for Behind the Candelabra (2013), Westworld (2018) and Lovecraft Country (2020).

As I don't consider myself a gamer I was in no way familiar with the game Fallout of its story so the Amazon series adaptation was all a major surprise for me. The universe created for the series was so stunning to behold. Many great universe details featured throughout that made watching the series such a pleasure. The work for Cummings and Graves really was a standout moment of the whole series.

OUTSTANDING HAIRSTYLING FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Feud: Capote vs. the Swans (“Masquerade 1966”)
The Gilded Age (“You Don't Even Like Opera”)

Shôgun (“Anjin”)

AND THE WINNER IS:

FEUD: CAPOTE VS. THE SWANS ("MASQUERADE 1966")

When I think of hair from this past television season the only series I think of is Feud. With all the women's high sixties hair it really was a feast for the eyes.

OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES

Olivia Colman as Chef Terry for (“Forks”) in “THE BEAR”
Jamie Lee Curtis as Donna Berzatto for (“Fishes”) in “THE BEAR”
Ana Gasteyer as Grace Fences for (“Grace”) in “LOOT”
Kaitlin Olson as DJ for (“The Roast of Deborah Vance”) in “HACKS”
Da'Vine Joy Randolph as Donna Williams for (“Sitzprobe”) in “ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING”
Cree Summer as Rosalyn Inez for (“Librarian”) in “ABBOTT ELEMENTARY”

AND THE WINNER IS:

JAMIE LEE CURTIS AS DONNA BERZATTO FOR ("FISHES") IN "THE BEAR"

This is the first win and nomination for Jamie Lee Curtis. She wins for her performance as Donna Berzatto on The Bear.

When it came down to chosing my winner in the category the choice came down to two recent Oscar winners (the most recent Supporting Actress winners to be exact) playing characters named Donna. However the choice became clear in the end cause I could not get the outrageous and expressive work by Jamie Lee Curtis with her two episode appearance on the second season of FX's The Bear. She instantly explodes on screen during the seasons sixth episode making the thanksgiving meal that the episode itself is named after. The episode was brilliant and even with a whole bunch of brilliant well known guest stars stopping by the performance I think about most is delivered by Jamie.

t truly is a tour de force performance that I'm not soon to forget and given how she has showed up again for another brilliant appearance on the shows third season I could maybe find myself in a year from now awarding Jamie yet again. It truly is impressive how on a high Curtis has been in the last few years with her work on The Bear and her Oscar winning turn in Everything Everywhere All at Once which kind've started the ball rolling.

OUTSTANDING COSTUME DESIGN FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Lou Eyrich and Leak Katznelson for (“Masquerade 1966”), Feud: Capote vs. the Swans
Kasia Walicka-Maimone and Patrick Wiley for (“You Don't Even Like Opera”), The Gilded Age
Kirsten Mann for (“Women Who Rule”), Loot
Dana Covarrubias for (“Grab Your Hankies”), Only Murders in the Building
Carlos Rosario for (“Anjin”), Shôgun

AND THE WINNER IS:

KASIA WALICKA-MAIMONE AND PATRICK WILEY FOR ("YOU DON'T EVEN LIKE OPERA"), THE GILDED AGE

This is the first win and nomination for Patrick Wiley. Kasia Walicka-Maimone receives her second win having previously won for The Gilded Age (2022).

The Gilded Age is just a pleasure of a costume drama and honestly like with the first season I never question the production elements of the show. The second season improved a lot of elements but something they did not need to do was improve the costume designs. Every character is dressed in the most high class designs and I find it such a pleasure to witness the characters living in the universe.

OUTSTANDING CASTING FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Jeanie Bacharach and Maggie Bacharach for The Bear
Alexa L. Fogel for Feud: Capote vs. the Swans
Tiffany Little Canfield, Bernard Telsey and Destiny Lily for Only Murders in the Building
Carrie Audino, Colleen Bolton, Kei Kawamura, Laura Schiff and Maureen Webb for Shôgun
Tiffany Mark and Julie Schubert for Under the Bridge

AND THE WINNER IS:

JEANIE BACHARACH AND MAGGIE MACHARACH FOR THE BEAR

ThIs are the first wins for Jeanie Bacharach and Maggie Bacharach. Jeanie was nominated for casting The Bear last year.

The Bear was already a powerful ensemble piece and in the second season more characters were added expanding the universe of the series. Each new character added influenced the already established stars and made them even greater too. Just some brilliant casting on this series.

OUTSTANDING CHOREOGRAPHY (DANCE/STUNT)

Ming Qiu for (“Part One: Master and Apprentice”), Ahsoka
Justin You for (“Pilot”), The Brothers Sun
(“Masquerade 1966”), Feud: Capote vs. the Swans
Tara Macken for (“Infidelity”), Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Hiroo Miami and Nobuyuki Obikane for (“Crimson Sky”), Shôgun

AND THE WINNER IS:

HIROO MIAMI AND NOBUYUKI OBIKANE FOR (“CRIMSON SKY”), SHÔGUN

This is the first win and nomination for Hiroo Miami and Nobuyuki Obikanei.

This category has been dominated by stunt choreography this year and of all the series I've watched nothing has been as impactful for me than the fights in the penultimate episode of Shôgun's first season. Especially the fight between Mariko's Men and Ishido's Guards was a standout moment whether it was the men fighting or the brilliant Lady Mariko taking part in trying to escape the city she has had to journey too. The stunts felt historically believable and was so compelling in a series of many compelling moments.

OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES

Jon Bernthal as Michael “Mikey” Berzatto for (“Fishes”) in “THE BEAR”
Benjamin Bratt as himself for (“Mr. Congeniality”) in “LOOT”
Zack Fox as Tariq Temple for (“Gregory's Garden Goofballs”) in “ABBOTT ELEMENTARY”
Larry Owens as Zach for (“Breakup”) in “ABBOTT ELEMENTARY”
Will Poulter as Luca for (“Honeydew”) in “THE BEAR”
Chris Sandiford as Derek for (“The Mall”) in “WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS”

AND THE WINNER IS:

ZACK FOX AS TARIQ TEMPLE FOR ("GREGORY'S GARDEN GOOFBALLS") IN "ABBOTT ELEMENTARY"

This is the first win and nomination for Zack Fox. He wins for his performance as Tariq Temple on Abbott Elementary.

The journey that the character of Tariq has gone on during the three season run of Abbott Elementary so far is rather impressive. While always a delight when he was first introduced as the waste of a boyfriend to Janine to season three where he became head of the PTA. He has always been a joy and a perfect example of why I love comedy series where character get to reoccur throughout the series run. Abbott Elementary is a stronger show for how well it showcases it's character regardless of size of role and Fox's work as Tariq is the perfect example why I adore the show. I will continue to welcome more of his character as the show hopefully runs for many more years to come.
