This is the first win and second nomination for Payal Kapadia. She was also nominated for the same films original screenplay.
Similar to my international film choice last year I was lucky enough to see All We Imagine as Light for the first time when I went to the Cannes Film Festival in May of 2024. When I went to Cannes I managed to watch the film twice and having seen the film a third time in November I become more certain in my love of this stunning film. What I find most impressive about this film is how passionate and respectful the film is of it's characters and location that I find so thrilling in the most quiet of ways. Payal Kapadia has instantly jumped up the top of my list of exciting directing talents based solely on this film that I look forward to returning to many times throughout my life.
