OUTSTANDING MUSIC COMPOSITION FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVI

Nicholas Britell for (“One Year Later”), Andor
Ramin Djawadi for (“The Red Dragon and the Gold”), House of the Dragon
Siddhartha Khosla for (“The Stunt Man”), Only Murders in the Building
Theodore Shapiro for (“Hello, Ms Cobel”), Severance
Daniel Pemberton for (“Grave Danger”), Slow Horses

AND THE WINNER IS:

NICHOLAS BRITELL FOR ("ONE YEAR LATER"), ANDOR

This is the second win and fourth nomination for Nicholas Britell. Britell previously won for composition The Underground Railroad (2021). Britell was also nominated for composing Succession (2020), Ziwe (2021) and Andor (2023).

Nicholas Britell is indeed out there doing it better across a large variety of projects better than any modern music composer in my mind. I mean just look at the series I've loved his work on before each magnificent by itself and when seen together truly incredible. On this second and final season of Andor he created some impactful and major musical moments that made the season feel so epic and amongst the great action packed productions of the whole year. Britell following him his recognizable Succession music with his work on Andor is rather impressive.

OUTSTANDING COSTUME DESIGN FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Daniel Selon for (“If I Can't Reach You / Let My Song Teach You”), Agatha All Along
Caroline McCall for (“The Red Dragon and the Gold”), House of the Dragon
Carol Cutshall for (“I Want You More Than Anything in the World”), Interview with the Vampire

Helen Huang for (“Cent’Anni”), The Penguin

AND THE WINNER IS:

HELEN HUANG FOR ("CENT-ANNI"), THE PENGUIN

This is the first win and nomination for Helen Huang.

When it comes to memorable costume creations from this past television season no outfit has stayed with me as Sofia's slinky yellow satin dress featured on the brilliant fourth episode of the Penguin "Cent’Anni". My adoration for this costume gave me flashbacks to the famous green Atonement green dress that in it's simple look is so attractive to witness. Milioti in this outfit is so brilliant and the stand out costume design of this whole year.

OUTSTANDING CINEMATOGRAPHY FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Matthew Lewis for (“Episode 2”), Adolescence
Christophe Nuyens for (“One Year Later”), Andor

JESSICA LEE GAGNÉ FOR ("COLD HARBOUR"), SEVERANCE

This is the first win and second nomination for Jessica Lee Gagné. She was previously nominated for Severance (2022).

Jessica Lee Gagné's work on Severance really exploded in this second season with many memorable images even more so than the first year. The season finale's use of colour was remarkable adding to the great tension and drama the episode. There are many moments I'd be willing to frame they were so stunning to take in.

OUTSTANDING CASTING FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Shaheen Baig for Adolescence
Tiffany Little Canfield, Bernard Telsey & Destiny Lilly for Only Murders in the Building
Erica Berger & Cathy Sandrich Gelfond for The Pitt

ERICA BERGER & CATHY SANDRICH GELFOND FOR THE PITT

ThIs are the first wins for Erica Berger & Cathy Sandrich Gelfond.

The Pitt coming out of nowhere to surprise everyone by being one of the best new series of the year is so down to the excellent casting making every character worth investing your time and attention into. I have no complaints and believe every cast member regardless of size of their part was the perfect choice making the 15 weeks of weekly watching a thrill.

When your series is all about dance/movement it's no surprise that the series isn't going to win this prize from me. Yes since watching the first season the show has been cancelled yet I will appreciate the great dance featured on the series.

OUTSTANDING PRODUCTION DESIGN FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Production Design by John Collins; Set Design by Mónica Monserrate for (“Circle Sewn with Fate / Unlock Thy Hidden Gate”), Agatha All Along
Production Design for Jim Clay for (“The Burning Mill”), House of the Dragon
Production Design by Patrick Howe; Set Design for Mila Khalevich for (“Valley of the Dolls”), Only Murders in the Building

These are the first wins for Patrick Howe and Mila Khalevich. Patrick was previously nominated for Only Murders in the Building (2023).

The set design work on Only Murders has been impressive since day one yet there was something so transformative about this fourth season which expanded the locations even more so that impressed me so much. This standout episode where we got introduced to Charles crazy sister living in a oddly structured house was so fun to experience and some great design work I'm not soon to forget.

OUTSTANDING ANIMATED PROGRAM

Batman: Caped Crusader (“In Treacherous Waters”)
Big Mouth (“Why Do We Go Through Puberty?”)
Bob's Burgers (“Colon-ly the Dronely”)
Futurama (“The Futurama Mystery Liberry”)
What If? (“What If... Agatha Went to Hollywood?”)

AND THE WINNER IS:

WHAT IF? ("WHAT IF... AGATHA WENT TO HOLLYWOOD?")

This is the first win and third nomination for What If? in this category.

As the Marvel movie machine is slowly marching to some form of a death the animated branch of the film studio at least on television continues to impress with What If being an impressive three season run for me. While the series has now come to an end I'll always appreciate the greatness of the series even if not ever moment worked for me. There was enough great moments during the season for me to fall madly in love with. The Agatha Harkness centric episode was an especially great standout and central to the series finally winning this category for me.

OUTSTANDING VOICEOVER PERFORMAN

Colman Domingo as Norman Osborn in "YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN"
Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness in "WHAT IF?"
Maya Rudolph as Connie LaCienega / Diane Birch in “BIG MOUTH”
Tilda Swinton as Ambrosius in "THE BOYS"
Jeffrey Wright as The Watcher in “WHAT IF?”

AND THE WINNER IS:

COLMAN DOMINGO AS NORMAN OSBORN IN "YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN"

This is the first win and nomination for Colman Domingo.

Colman Domingo continues his great performance output with his nice voiceover appearance on the underseen yet nice to watch Spider-Man series. Domingo joins a long list of great actors to perform the part of Norman Osborne and Domingo with his already smooth vocals makes for the perfect voiceover artist and best performance from this past television season.

2024-25 "An Irish Person" TV AWARDS ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Welcome yet again to my rundown of what I consider to be the best in television of this past year. This time it's for the 2024-25 TV season. I watch and love a lot of TV so my nominees usually cover a variety of different shows. I will be starting to announce nominees and winners in all categories daily leading up to the actual Primetime Emmy Awards which this year will air on September 14th. I will start tomorrow with "Outstanding Voiceover Performance".

On Tuesday the 77th Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced and just so I don't spoil my choices but reveal a little preview is that there will be some commonalities shared throughout between my choices and the Academies.
