OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES

Naomi Ackie as Alicia for (“Chapter 4”) in “MASTER OF NONE”
Michelle Gomez as Miranda Croft for (“Hitchcock Double”) in “THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT”
Kristen Johnston as Tammy Diffendorf for (“Astronauts and Fat Trimmings” in “MOM”
Punam Patel as Kim Laghari for (““I Don't Like it Like This”) in “SPECIAL”
Juno Temple as Keeley Jones for (“The Diamond Dogs”) in “TED LASSO”
Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton for (“Make Rebecca Great Again”) in “TED LASSO”

AND THE WINNER IS:

HANNAH WADDINGHAM AS REBECCA WELTON FOR ("MAKE REBECCA GREAT AGAIN") IN "TED LASSO"

This is the first win and nomination for Hannah Waddingham.

Who would've though the actress who played the shame nun from Game of Thrones years ago would turn around and delivery the most perfect comedic performance from this past tv season. I was certainly not expecting Waddingham to delivery as greatly as she did but she easily was my most favourite part of the show with each episode I watched. in the "Make Rebecca Great Again" episode we see Hannah's Rebecca join the team as they travel for a game. We get to know a bit more about her character but what is probably my favourite moment of Rebecca comes in this episode. We see Waddingham get to sing, be funny and comfort and struggling Ted Lasso. It is hard to talk about Hannah's work because it's absolutely perfect.

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES

Paul Chahidi as Hamid Amani for (“Hamid”) in “CHAD”
Carl Clemons-Hopkins as Marcus for (“Tunnel of Love”) in “HACKS”
William Fichtner as Adam Janikowski for (“Klondike-Five and a Secret Family”) in “MOM”
Dylan Gage as Gabe Leib for (“Opening Night”) in “PEN15”
Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent for (“Trent Crimm: The Independent”) in “TED LASSO”
T.R. Knight as Davey Bowden for (“Conspiracy Theories”) in “THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT”

AND THE WINNER IS:

BRETT GOLDSTEIN AS ROY KENT FOR ("TRENT CRIMM: THE INDEPENDENT") IN "TED LASSO"

This is the first win and nomination for Brett Goldstein.

Ted Lasso is a series I didn't initially attract to until i heard great buzz from others which inspired me to watch and thank god I did because what a great series this show is at least during it's first season. Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent is one of the great elements of the show that unfortunately not enough people talk about. He has to play both the straight and wild part of the show as a lot of his comedic bits come from how series he takes things. Goldstein is a performer I was not familiar with before the series and now that I'm aware of him I'll look forward to what he continues to do with Kent and what he does separate from the show.

OUTSTANDING DIRECTING FOR A COMEDY SERIES

Marcos Siega for (“Hitchcock Double”), The Flight Attendant
Paul W. Downs for (“1.69 Million”), Hacks
Sam Zvibleman for (“Opening Night”), Pen15
Craig Johnson for (“Why Is No One Ready?”), Special
Declan Lowney for (“Make Rebecca Great Again”), Ted Lasso

AND THE WINNER IS:

PAUL W. DOWNS FOR ("1.69 MILLION"), HACKS

This is the first win and four nomination for Paul W. Downs. He was previously nominated for producing Broad City (2014-2015) & writing Broad City (2015).

I cannot express how thrilled I am that Downs who was such an integral part of the great comedy Broad City has been able to follow up that special series with Hacks an equally as great show which is getting more mainstream acclaim than his previous series ever did. Hacks sounds like a brilliant series from the one sentence description alone and thankfully as the series progressed it managed to get better and better. The eight episode which I'm highlighting as the best directing of this year is a great example of how wonderful the show is. This episode features the great moment of Deborah during a comedy set ending the career of a truly disrespectful man. This scene is especially well shot as the entire time you are unsure what Deborah is trying to accomplish while the show also holds you comfortably prepared for some satisfying ending. This balance of shock and expectations displays why Downs work was the best directing of comedy this season.

OUTSTANDING WRITING FOR A COMEDY SERIES

Matt Whitaker for (“Cease and Desist”), Girls5Eva
Pat Regan for (“1.69 Million”), Hacks
Anna Konkle for (“Vendy Wiccany”), Pen15
Sam Zvibleman for (“Opening Night”), Pen15
Brett Goldstein for (“Tan Lines”), Ted Lasso

AND THE WINNER IS:

SAM ZVIBLEMAN FOR ("OPENING NIGHT"), PEN15

This is the first win and nomination for Sam Zvibleman.

Pen15 admitedly was a show I didn't watch during it's original release but once the second season premiered I quickly binged the series and was upset with myself for not paying enough attention to this clearly excellent tv show. The Opening Night episode was a great highlight for me this season as I am a practising theatre student and seeing the show culminate in a theatrical event felt so right to me. The episode had many laugh out loud moments but also some great character beats that had been built up to during the first half of this second season. Now that I've comfortably joined the fandom of the show I look forward to what else we get from the show.

OUTSTANDING LEADING ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES

Ryan O’Connell as Ryan Hayes for (“Why Is No One Ready?”) in “SPECIAL”
Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso for (“Tan Lines”) in “TED LASSO”

AND THE WINNER IS:

JASON SUDEIKIS AS TED LASSO FOR ("TAN LINES") IN "TED LASSO"

This is the first win and second nomination for Eugene Levy. He was previously nominated for 30 Rock (2007).

As you can see by my nominees in this category there just wasn't many male led comedies that I managed to watch this season which amounted in only two nominees I've chosen. Even if there were four other men in this list I do think I'd still likely drift towards Sudeikis as my winner. His Ted Lasso creation is so excellent that there's a reason he has sort've steam rolled all acting awards in this category. He is endlessly delightful as Lasso and even when asked to play more emotional moments he is just as effective. I'm so glad we have this series as it features so many wonderful comedic moments especially those played by Sudeikis.

OUTSTANDING LEADING ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES

Kaley Cuoco as Cassie Bowden for (“After Dark”) in “THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT”
Maya Erskine as Maya Ishii-Peters for (“Vendy Wiccany”) in “PEN15”
Renée Elise Goldsberry as Wickie for (“Cease and Desist”) in “GIRLS5EVA”
Anna Konkle as Anna Kone for (“Pool”) in “PEN15”
Nasim Pedrad as Chad Amani for (“Hamid” in “CHAD”
Jean Smart as Deborah Vance for (“1.69 Million”) in “HACKS”

AND THE WINNER IS:

RENÉE ELISE GOLDSBERRY AS WICKIE FOR ("CEASE AND DESIST") IN "GIRLS5EVA"

This is the first win and nomination for Renée Elise Goldsberry.

Goldsberry is obviously an accomplished actor on stage if you've managed to see her work in the Hamilton recording on Disney+. I was so thrilled we got to experience another performance from her this time solely in the genre of comedy. As Wickie Goldsberry was the performed the perfect mix of comedy and geniune humanity. Her role is wild and wacky in the vein of Jenna Maroney (a previous Fey/Carlock creation) but has a bit more early human moments. She was so stellar throughout and It's so exciting the show is gonna return because I want as much Wickie in my life as possible.

OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES

Amanda Brungel as Rita Blue in (“Milk”) in “THE HANDMAID’S TALE”
Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano for (“Chapter 13: The Jedi”) in “THE MANDALORIAN”
Loretta Devine as Earnestine for (“Legacy”) in “P-VALLEY”
Noma Dumezweni as Tasha Jackson in (“The Trunk”) in “POSE”
Regina Taylor as Hattie in (“Rewind 1921”) in “LOVECRAFT COUNTRY”
Charlene Woodard as Rhonda for ("Laila – Week 6") in "IN TREATMENT"

AND THE WINNER IS:

NOMA DUMEZWENI AS TASHA JACKSON FOR ("THE TRUNK") IN "POSE"

This is the first win and nomination for Noma Dumezweni.

It's crazy how heavily featured Noma Dumezweni was as a performer during this television season. In addition to her guest stint on Pose she also had larger roles in HBO Max's Made for Love and HBO'S The Undoing. However when it comes to her greatest appearance this season it has to be one episode guest star role on Pose. We see her character entirely in flashback the unsupportive mother to the wonderful Elektra. The scenes between Dominique and Noma are dramatic to watch as both actresses are stellar opposite one another. With Pose being in it's final season I must praise the show for giving us more information on Elektra as it added to Dominique's performance but it also gave us this wonderful appearance by Noma Dumezweni.

OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES

Tom Brooke as Michael Fagan in (“Fagan”) in “THE CROWN”
Tom Burke as Dazzle Jennings in (“The Hereditary Principle”) in “THE CROWN”
Norm Lewis as Vernon Jackson in (“Take Me to Church”) in “POSE”
Timothy Olyphant as Cobb Vanth in (“Chapter 9: The Marshal”) in “THE MANDALORIAN”
Courtney B. Vance as George Freeman in (“Sundown”) in “LOVECRAFT COUNTRY”
Carl Weathers as Greef Karga in (“Chapter 12: The Siege”) in “THE MANDALORIAN”

AND THE WINNER IS:

COURTNEY B. VANCE AS GEORGE FREEMAN IN ("SUNDOWN") IN "LOVECRAFT COUNTRY

This is the first win and third nomination for Courtney B. Vance. He was previously nominated for Scandal (2015) and American Crime Story (2016).

If you have complaints about certain elements of this first season of Lovecraft Country I guess i can slightly understand but when I think about the show the positives far outrank the negatives. One such positive early on was Courtney B. Vance who proved yet again why he is such a skilled performer. His inclusion on the show was short and while I would've welcomed more of him his presence was felt throughout and made him the perfect choice in this category for me. The pilot was his standout where we see his character go on a road trip with the central couple of the series. Vance is simply a charismatic performer and this is on full display during his appearances on Lovecraft Country.

OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES

Jane Adams as Nina for (“I Think She Will”) in “HACKS”
Andrea Anders as Michelle Lasso for (“Tan Lines”) in “TED LASSO”
Tina Fey as Dolly Parton for (“Carma”) in “GIRLS5EVA”
Ashlee Grubbs as Maura for (“Three”) in “PEN15”
Lauren Weedman as Tonya for (“I Don't Like it Like This”) in “SPECIAL”
Vanessa Williams as Nance Trace for (“A.I.R.P.I.G.”) in “GIRLS5EVA”

AND THE WINNER IS:

VANESSA WILLIAMS AS NANCE TRACE FOR ("A.I.R.P.I.G.") IN "GIRLS5EVA"

This is the second win and fourth nomination for Vanessa Williams. She previously won for Ugly Betty (2007). She was also nominated in 2008 for Betty and as part of the ensemble in 2007.

Williams has for years shown how incredible she performs when in comedy so I must say while watching Girls5Eva is was such a thrill for her to surprisingly show up in the second to last episode and be such a welcome presence. She plays the powerful music manager Nance Trace who enters as the final challenge for the girls of the show titled band. Williams get's a lot of great lines to deliver, gets to sing a bit and rule in some stellar costuming. Williams showed in her quick guest spot that while in a similar genre like comedy her work in no way is reminiscent of her iconic role as Wilhelmina Slater.

Taka Ikari for The Flight Attendant
King and Country, LLC for The Good Lord Bird

OUTSTANDING HOST OF A REALITY-COMPETITION PROGRAM

Nicole Byer for Nailed It!
RuPaul Charles for RuPaul's Drag Race
Phil Keoghan for The Amazing Race
Padma Lakshmi & Tom Colicchio for Top Chef

AND THE WINNER IS:

NICOLE BYER FOR NAILED IT!

This are the first win and third nomination for Nicole Byer. She was previously nominated for Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2019) and hosting Nailed It! (2020).

Byer is the just so wonderful in whatever project she is involved in and with Nailed It! it's almost too much to take how charismatic she is. She has amazing punchlines as well as vocal reactions which make the series so wonderful to watch each year it airs on Netflix.

OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES

Michael Angarano as Gregg Rosso for (“Play”) in “PEN15”
Stephen Colbert as Alf Musik for (“Alf Musik”) in “GIRLS5EVA”
Anthony Head as Rupert Mannion for (“For the Children”) in “TED LASSO”
Kevin Pollack as Alvin Lester Biletnikoff for (“Sober Wizard and a Woodshop Workshop”) in “MOM”
Andrew Rannells as Kev for (“Carma”) in “GIRLS5EVA”
Rainn Wilson as Andy for (“Whip-Its and Emotionally Attuned Babies”) in “MOM”

AND THE WINNER IS:

RAINN WILSON AS ANDY FOR ("WHIP-ITS AND EMOTIONALLY ATTUNED BABIES") IN "MOM"

This is the second win and tenth nomination for Rainn Wilson. He previously won for The Office (2009). He was also individually nominated for Office (2007, 2009), Mom (2020) and with the ensemble of The Office (2006-2009, 2011).

Wilson has been a delightful addition to the rotating cast of Mom since his first appearance on the sixth season of the show and now in this final season I have finally found an opportunity to award him for his great work. Wilson plays the therapist to Janney's Bonnie Plunkett and knowing Bonnie it obviously isn't your most structured therapy sessions but through Wilson was a brillant scene partner to Janney. In this final season we got to see him act opposite more of the AA group members and of course he was great opposite them too. Obviously like most I'm upset this is the final season of the show but I'm so glad we got Wilson and the rest of the casts work for seven seasons.

Ashely Everett and Ebony Williams for Black is King
Jack Murphy for (“Shock and Delight”), Bridgerton
Hank Amos for (“Powe Broker”), The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Ryan Watson for (“Chapter 13: The Jedi”), The Mandalorian

OUTSTANDING MAIN TITLES THEME MUSIC

Kris Bowers for Bridgerton
Blake Neely for The Flight Attendant
Jeff Richmond for Girls5Eva
Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez for WandaVision
Nicholas Britell for Ziwe

AND THE WINNER IS:

JEFF RICHMOND FOR GIRLS5EVA

This is the
This is the fifth win and thirteenth nomination for Jeff Richmond. He previously won for producing 30 Rock (2009), composing the theme music for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt! (2015), writing the music and lyrics 30 Rock (2013) & Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt! (2015). He was also nominated for producing 30 Rock (2007-2008, 2011-2013), Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt! (2016) and writing the music and lyrics Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt! (2017, 2019).

Jeff Richmond truly has been a major part of television music composing from the moment 30 Rock premiered and with each new show he is involved with there are incredible musical moments worthy of being awarded in this category. The main theme song of Girls5Eva is so addictive that you will be singing the words of the song long after completing any episode of the shows first season.

OUTSTANDING ORIGINAL MUSIC AND LYRICS

Big Mouth, “Code-Switching” (Music and Lyrics by Mark Rivers)
Bo Burnham: Inside, "White Womam's Instagram" (Music and Lyrics by Bo Burnham)
Girl5Eva, “Four Stars (Music and Lyrics by Sara Bareilles)
WandaVision, “Agatha All Along” (Music and Lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez)
Ziwe, “Stop Being Poor” (Music and Lyrics by Ziwe Fumudoh & Jordan Mendoza)

AND THE WINNER IS:

GIRLS5EVA, "FOUR STARS" (MUSIC AND LYRICS BY SARA BAREILLES)

This is the first win and nominations for Sara Bareilles for her song Four Stars

I thought for the longest time this award would go to the equally as great Agatha All Along but then Girl5Eva came in at the last second and stole this original song award. It really was a great season for original songs on tv shows but the music of Girl5Eva was just so great that it felt incorrect to not award the shows music. Four Stars the final song of the series was so representative of the show that it became the song I needed to award above the others. The song written by Bareilles a lead of the show features all the central women at their best. It really is a song full of great humour and heartbreak.

OUTSTANDING VARIETY, MUSIC OR COMEDY SERIES/SPECIAL

Black is King
A Black Lady Sketch Show
Bo Burnham: Inside
David Byrne's American Utopia
Hamilton

AND THE WINNER IS:

BO BURNHAM: INSIDE

As I said similarly in the directing category it's crazy how last minute this comedy special was and how it literally blew up what I was considering to be the best in these variety categories. It's a special which I wanted to return to immediately whether it was the visual on Netflix or even the music which I've started to include in my Spotify rotation. This special is something spectacular and proves why Burnham is such an exciting cinematic voice to follow.

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE IN A VARIETY, MUSIC OR COMEDY SERIES/SPECIAL

Bo Burnham for "BO BURNHAM: INSIDE"
Ziwe Fumudoh for "ZIWE"
Renée Elise Goldsberry for "HAMILTON"
Robin Thede for "A BLACK LADY SKETCH SHOW"
Bowen Yang for "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE"

AND THE WINNER IS:

BOWEN YANG FOR "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE"

This is the first win and second nomination for Bowen Yang. He was previously nominated for Saturday Night Live (2020).

Even though SNL has become mostly unwatchable these past couple of seasons a major brightspot this past season was Bowen Yang. His work on the show is one of a couple reasons I keep tuning in because his energy is so different than any other performer on the show. The above clip is a great example of his great work on the show and while I don't fully enjoy watching the show I'll continue to watch if Yang is used a bunch on the series.

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter & Kwasi Fordjour for Black is King
Bo Burnham for Bo Burnham: Inside
Spike Lee for David Byrne's American Utopia
Thomas Kail for Hamilton
Lizzy Sanford for Ziwe

AND THE WINNER IS:

BO BURNHAM FOR BO BURNHAM: INSIDE

This is the first win and nomination for Bo Burnham.

Coming in at the last second Bo Burnham: Inside easily became one of the great pieces of art from this tv season. So hilarious and so special it's a perfectly crafted special which I once completed wanted to immediately return to. Whether's it's the multiple musical sequences of simply his direct address to the camera with a comedy set Burnham just shows how skilled he is as a director.

This is the second win and nomination for the writing staff of A Black Lady Sketch Show.

I was worried we were not gonna have a new season of Black Lady Sketch Show this season based on how the pandemic has affected television production but thankfully we got a second season and yet again the series was just as incredible as it's first season. The team of mostly women behind this show make it so incredible to watch each week that it makes me hopeful that in future seasons we get more then six episodes of content a season. I'll take all the Black Lady Sketch Show I'm supplied.

OUTSTANDING COSTUME DESIGN FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVIE

John Glaser, Ellen Mirojnick & John Norster for (“An Affair of Honor”), Bridgerton
Amy Roberts for (“Favourites”), The Crown
Dayna Pink for (“Holy Ghost”), Lovecraft Country
Analucia McGorty for (“On the Run”), Pose
Caroline Eselin for (“Chapter 2: South Carolina”), The Underground Railroad

AND THE WINNER IS:

AMY ROBERTS FOR ("FAVOURITES"), THE CROWN

This is the first win and second nomination for Amy Roberts. She was nominated last year for costuming The Crown.

The costuming for The Crown can't be easy for any designer to work on solely based on how recognisable the wardrobe of the Royal family was from this certain period of time. All the outfits wore by the cast feel appropriate for each member of the family but are also beautiful to take in. Obviously the standout outfits this season were those worn by Diana but this standout episode features Diana not as much but it shows how impressive the costuming is for every other member of the ensemble.

OUTSTANDING EDITING FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Jean Crupper for (“Hitchcock Double”), The Flight Attendant
John Dwelly for (“The Alliance”), I May Destroy You
Chris Dickens & Steve McQueen for (“Lovers Rock”), Small Axe
Alex O'Flinn for (“Chapter 3: North Carolina”), The Underground Railroad
Marco Costa for (“Right here, right now #1”), We Are Who We Are

AND THE WINNER IS:

JEAN CRUPPER FOR ("HITCHCOCK DOUBLE"), THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT

This is the first win and nomination for Jean Crupper.

Even with each episode of Flight Attendant running 40+ minutes no episode in the entirety of the first season feels any longer than a few minutes. The series flows so strongly that you could have fooled me into thinking the show had only eighth 30 minute episodes. The penultimate episode is an especially great example of the shows great editing where all the drama of the show is coming to life. Even with many elements of the plot coming up the episode never feels overstuffed and this for me is a great example of how effective editing is towards the narrative of a tv show. All the scenes feel full but also pass by quickly and kept me invested watching the series week to week.

OUTSTANDING VOICEOVER PERFORMANCE

Julie Andrews as Lady Whistledown for (“Diamond of the First Water”), Bridgerton
Nick Kroll as Nick Birch / Maury the Hormone Monster / Coach Steve Steve / Lola Skumpy / Rick the Hormone Monster / Bad Mitten / Nick Starr for (“Horrority House”), Big Mouth
Thandie Newton as Mona for (“The Hugest Period Ever”), Big Mouth
John Roberts as Linda Belcher for (“Mommy Boy”), Bob’s Burgers
Maya Rudolph as Connie the Hormone Monstress for (“The New Me”), Big Mouth

AND THE WINNER IS:

NICK KROLL AS NICK BIRCH / MAURY THE HORMONE MONSTER / COACH STEVE STEVE / LOLA SKUMPY / RICK THE HOROME MONSTER / BAD MITTEN / NICK STARR FOR ("HORRORITY HOUSE"), BIG MOUTH

This is the first win and second nomination for Nick Kroll. He was nominated last year for voicing Big Mouth.

It's rather impressive how varied Kroll's voice work on Big Mouth is given how singular his regular voice is separate from him being a performer. Each character he voices is different from the previous one and it's such an impressive feat to behold. This particular episode I've highlighted for Kroll shows the best moments of his work from the season whether it's playing the two versions of Nick or the multiple supporting characters he plays.

OUTSTANDING CINEMATOGRAPHY FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Ryan Marie Helfant, Santiago Gonzalez, Muhammad Atta Ahmed, Michael Fernandez, Laura Merians & Malik Hassan Sayeed for Black is King
Robert MacLachlan & Tat Radcliffe for for ("Sundown"), Lovecraft Country
Shabier Kirchner for ("Lovers Rock"), Small Axe
James Laxton for ("Chapter 1: Georgia"), The Underground Railroad
Fredrik Wenzel for ("Right here, right now #1"), We Are Who We Are

AND THE WINNER IS:

JAMES LAXTON FOR ("CHAPTER 1" GEORGIA"), THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD

This is the first win and nomination for James Laxton.

Similar to Britell in the music composition category Laxton's work on Underground Railroad was another element I was really looking forward to based on his previous collaborations with Barry Jenkins. It's really overwhelming how beautiful the shot compositions of Railroad are where every image looks and feels as if it could be framed separate from the series. Laxton's work adds to the series by making it stunningly beautiful while also making the narrative come to the forefront.

OUTSTANDING MUSIC COMPOSITION FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Kris Bowers for ("Diamond of the First Water"), Bridgerton
Martin Phipps for ("The Balmoral Test"), The Crown
Carlo Rafael Rivera for ("Exchanges"), The Queen's Gambit
Nicholas Britell for (“Chapter 9: Indiana Winter”), The Underground Railroad
Christophe Beck for ("Previously On"), WandaVision

AND THE WINNER IS:

NICOLAS BRITELL FOR ("CHAPTER 9: INDIANA WINTER"), THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD

This is the first win and second nomination for Nicholas Britell. He was previously nominated for composing Succession (2020).

Britell it goes without saying is one of the most exciting composers currently working and when it was announced Barry Jenkins would be making a limited series for Amazon I was very excited for what music Britell was gonna give us for 10 episodes. His scoring is just so wonderful to listen to and so distinct from what any other composer is doing out there. The above sample is a wonderful creation and like many compositions when used really makes you rethink of characters and moments from the series.

OUTSTANDING SOUND FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Lovecraft Country (“Jig-A-Bobo”)
The Mandalorian (“Chapter 9: The Marshal”)
Mare of Easton (“Illusions”)

WandaVision (“The Series Finale”)

THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD ("CHAPTER 1: GEORGIA")

OUTSTANDING CASTING FOR A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Nina Gold & Robert Sterne for The Crown
Anne Davison & Cindy Tolan for Girls5Eva
Julie Harkin for I May Destroy You
Theo Park for Ted Lasso
The Underground Railroad

AND THE WINNER IS:

NINA GOLD & ROBERT STERNE FOR THE CROWN

This is the first win for both Nina Gold and Robert Sterne. They were both previously nominated together for casting Game of Thrones (2011, 2013, 2014) & The Crown (2017).

As the seasons of The Crown progress the casting becomes even more difficult as the real life people being portrayed are so familiar as being a bigger part of pop culture. This fourth season was especially complicated with the introduction of both Diana and Margaret Thatcher. Thankfully both actresses chosen to play these women were spectacular and made for one of the best seasons the show got to have. It couldn't have been easy to find the right actor to play a young Diana but the show really lucked out with Emma Corrin who has turned out to be one of the true breakouts of this past television season.
