OUTSTANDING MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Maid
Scenes from a Marriage
The Staircase
Under the Banner of Heaven
A Very British Scandal
The White Lotus

AND THE WINNER IS:

THE WHITE LOTUS

With this win The White Lotus wins its sixth prize from thirteen nominations. The series also won Supporting Actor (Bartlett), Supporting Actress (Coolidge), Writing, Main Titles Theme Music & Music Composition. It was also nominated for Supporting Actor (Zahn), Supporting Actress (Rothwell), Directing, Casting, Cinematography, Editing & Main Titles Design

And for the final award of the year The White Lotus unsurprisingly triumphs in the majority of the Miniseries categories. Even though the show aired over a year ago I have been thinking about it since the series came to its completion. What made this series stand out was how willing to embrace oddities White as show creator was willing to do and trust there were a lot of odd but exciting moments to experience. Even though it has been announced the show is returning for a second season I still felt ok awarding this show in this category but I'll end by saying I look forward to what White is gonna create next if this first season is anything to judge by it's sure to be bloody brilliant.

PACHINKO

This is the first win and nomination for Pachinko in this category. For its first season Pachinko has received fourteen nominations winning five of them. The show won for Drama Series, Supporting Drama Actress (Yuh-jung), Drama Directing, Cinematography & Main Titles Design. The show was also nominated for Drama Ensemble, Leading Drama Actor (Jin Ha), Leading Drama Actress (Min-ha Kim), Supporting Drama Actor (Lee Min-ho), Drama Writing, Casting, Costume Design, Editing & Music Composition.

Pachinko was the show that sort've came out of nowhere for me this past season. I remember hearing an announcement years ago about the show being produced but it wasn't until the stellar reviews came out that I was aware this show existed. Then when i started tuning in the stellar reactions were proven correct as the show proofed to be truly magnificent. The show was not only beautiful visually but also the multiple narratives of it, everything blended so satisfyingly together that each week was spectacular to experience. A lot of the credit should go to Soo Hugh the creator of the show as she excellently adapted the original text to make it such an exciting television event to experience.
