This is the first win and nomination for Jessica Yu.

Only Murders in the Building had many standout episodes this season that deciding on one standout episode proved difficult although I eventually decided upon "Blow-Up" which stylistically was concerned with the idea of film directing containing many creative ways of filming certain scenes to bring out the seasons great comedy and dramatic moments.

Jessica Yu whose been a regular television director recently again proves herself a capable talent with her standout work in this series.

This is the first win and nomination for Clare Barron.

Say Nothing only developing a small but strong audience of viewers this past television will continue to baffle me as the series deserved as big an audience as any other successful miniseries it has been nominated against by me has received this past year. The series adaptating from a compelling literary text translated so well to it's series format I was thrilled from the very start to the end of this sprawling complex historical story.

I hope the show continues to find success in the years to come as it hopefully produces stars of all involved as it rightfully should.

This is the first win and nomination for Dan Erickson.

Dan Erickson and his writing staff really impressed be tenfold with their creative writing during the entirety of the second season of Severance but especially in the season finale where all the mysterious pieces came together as well as continuing the narrative it was a triumph from a writing perspective and a series/season high that will stay with me for some time.

Whether it was the back and forth between the two Marks, the completion of Cold Harbour or just Mark freeing Gemma from her torture it was an emotionally pleasing episode and great conclusion to an impressive second season for the show.

This is the first win and nomination for Don Cheadle. He wins for his performance as Detective J.D. Hudson in Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.

Don Cheadle a reliable actor in any part over the past thirty or so years is a performer I always appreciate the presence of regardless of the size of his role which Cheadle can comfortable move between in lead or supporting either way he always manages to impress. In the little seen Peacock miniseries Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist Cheadle was easily the best in show when it comes to standout actors portraying his detectives cool, calm and collected presence in such an appealing way.

I appreciate his work reminding me how I first came to appreciate Cheadle which was in a standout supporting part especially after a couple of years of less an exciting work with him mostly being linked with the Marvel Cinematic universe. I hope Cheadle can continue to get more opportunities like this series now that hopefully his decade long work in the MCU has come to a sort've major end.

CAROLYN LIPKA FOR ("MRS. TABLE"), HACKS

This is the first win and nomination for Carolyn Lipka.

Hacks four years into it's series run continues to showcase some of the sharpest and immediate laugh inducing comedy series writing currently airing on television. The sixth episode entitled "Mrs. Table" during this fourth season was an especially great episode from the series and easily picks up this prize for me. This season managed to be far more comedic and dramatic simultaneously with this sixth episode accomplishing just that with the workplace experience Ava was subjected to.

The 'Mrs. Table' scene which the episode's title derives from is an especially humourous moment featuring Hannah Einbinder at her best comedically that I will laugh just thinking of her Ava yelling and eventually quitting on her writers room. Carolyn Lipka whose been part of the writers team for her second straight season really did some great writing I'm sure with the rest of her team contributing a lot to this standout episode.

PHILLIP BARANTINI FOR ("EPISODE 2"), ADOLESCENCE

This is the first win and nomination for Phillip Barantini.

As soon as I started watching Adolescence and the series introduced into it's universe with one long continuous take and carried this throughout the rest of the series I was pretty confident it would win this directing prize from me. Director Phillip Barantini really makes his work seem invisible with you not really noticing the one take trickery so obviously until you think of the series as an entire product. The second episode which features a lengthy chase sequence and overhead drone shots really exemplify the great direction for the series and while I loved watching the entire production.
