This is the first win and nomination for Maggie O'Farrell. Chloé Zhao wins her second award on her fourth nomination. She previously for screenwriting Nomadland (2020) and was also nominated for directing The Rider (2018) and Nomadland.
Hamnet is a feat in adaptation taking a great piece of literature and expanding it for the screen including the novels original writer and films creative director blending their voices together to make something truly magic. There are many passages of dialogue and a great story structure to take in throughout this moving familial drama.
