OUTSTANDING MAKEUP AND HAIRSTYLING

Joel Harlow & Ken Diaz for Black Panther
Nadia Stacey for The Favourite
Jenny Shircore, Marc Pilcher & Jessica Brooks for Mary Queen of Scots
Mark Coulier & Jeremy Woodhead for Stan & Ollie
Mark Coulier, Lydia de Martin & Andrea Eusebi for Suspiria

AND THE WINNER IS:

MARK COULIER, LYDIA DE MARTIN & ANDREA EUSEBI FOR SUSPIRIA

This is the first win and nomination for both Lydia de Martin & Andrea Eusebi. This is the third win and fifth/sixth nomination for Mark Coulier. He previously won for The Fifth Element (1997), The Iron Lady (2011) & The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014). He was also nominated for Rush (2013).

This year’s remake of Suspiria was wild in so many ways. It was not the same movie in many ways as the original 1977 version but there was so much greatness that I really enjoyed the newer version. Tilda Swinton in her third collaboration with Luca Guadagnino has now fully invested herself into his cinematic worlds. In this particular film she plays three characters and due to the greatness of it’s makeup and hairstyling she can believably play them in the same scene. The character designs are scary and stunning. They are very unique looking which I could really appreciate. One of Tilda's character in the finale of the film is haunting in it's look as well as it's breathing movements. There is also some great hairstyling in the film, especially Susie and Madame Blanc's wonderful long humane wigs. Truly great work and no wonder it is with Coulier's involvement.
