OUTSTANDING FILM EDITING

Monika Willi for Amour

Melanie Oliver for Anna Karenina

Alexander Berner for Cloud Atlas

Michael Kahn for Lincoln

William Goldenberg & Dylan Tichenor for Zero Dark Thirty

AND THE WINNER IS…..

WILLIAM GOLDENBERG & DYLAN TICHENOR FOR ZERO DARK THIRTY

Last Year’s Winner: Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

This is the first win/nomination for William Goldenberg and third win (seventh nomination overall) Dylan Tichenor. They win for their editing of Zero Dark Thirty.

Zero Dark Thirty deserved to be done by two men for the story being told and these two men did such a good job that while the story was told over a long period of time the film still felt long enough and not too long. Their are many well edited shots but some of the standouts including the long raid sequence which was near prefect the moment it started to the tense end of the long scene which made the film a success. All together the editing was a key part to the greatness of the film making it work quite well for me.
