This is the third win and twelfth nomination for Paul W. Downs. He previously won for directing Hacks (2021) and producing Hacks (2024). He was also nominated individually for Hacks (2022), producing Broad City (2014-2015) & Hacks (2021-2022, 2025), directing Broad City (2015) & Hacks (2025) and writing Hacks (2022).
When it comes to perfect episodes of television this past year the "Montecito" episode of Hacks is indeed top of the list. The episode was something we as fans had waited desperately for and the whole team involved fully delivered. Downs like all his fellow creatives of the series really directed this episode well especially as it worked through the suggested and real sexual dynamics of the central characters of the series.
