Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams for ("Call Back") in "WONDER MAN"
Ethan Hawke as Lee Raybon for ("Pilot") in "THE LOWDOWN"
Matthew Rhys as Tom Loftis for ("Welcome to Widow’s Bay") in "WIDOW'S BAY"
Tim Robinson as William Ronald "Ron" Trosper for (“Life Goes By Too F**king Fast, It Really Does.”) in "THE CHAIR COMPANY"
Jason Segel as Jimmy Laird for (“The Bodyguard of Sadness”) in "SHRINKING"
Martin Short as Oliver Putnam for (“Nail in the Coffin”) in “ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING”
AND THE WINNER IS:
ETHAN HAWKE AS LEE RAYBON FOR ("PILOT") IN "THE LOWDOWN"
This is the second win and third nomination for Ethan Hawke. He previously won for The Good Lord Bird (2021) and was nominated for Alias (2003). He wins for his performance as Lee Raybon on The Lowdown.
It seems that each new performance from Ethan Hawke shows why he remains one of the best actors currently working yet sadly one of the lesser discussed. With his standout leading turn on The Lowdown Hawke again showed his knack for keeping audiences in suspense of what performance he would deliver.
As Lee Raybon he was a stunning comedic lead nailing the lighter and dramatic moments of the shows narrative doing so with a cool energy that had me thinking of the great movie stars of the past to compare his work to. With the show renewed for a second season I am glad we will get more wonderful stories led by Lee in the future because between this and his Oscar nomination for Blue Moon it's clear Ethan Hawke is on a roll.
