OUTSTANDING LEADING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES

Shiri Appleby as Rachel Goldberg for ("Return") in "UNREAL"
Carrie Coon as Nora Durst for ("Lens") in "THE LEFTOVERS"
Viola Davis as Annalise Keating for ("There's My Baby") in "HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER"
Eva Green as Vanessa Ives for ("And They Were Enemies") in "PENNY DREADFUL"
Sarah Lancashire as Catherine Cawood for ("Episode Three") in "HAPPY VALLEY"
Keri Russell  as Elizabeth Jennings for ("The Magic of David Copperfield V. The Statue of Liberty Disappears") in "THE AMERICANS"

AND THE WINNER IS:

EVA GREEN AS VANESSA IVES FOR ("AND THEY WERE ENEMIES") IN "PENNY DREADFUL"

This is the second win and nomination for Eva Green. She wins consecutively for Penny Dreadful having won this award last year.

Eva Green is such an underused actress in Hollywood that the fact her clearly best work has been on the small screen for the last couple of years goes to show how cinema is unwilling to hire actress like Green. Green fully embraces the craziness of her role as she can with great control fly off the handle as Vanessa dives deep into her mental issues over how her life has gone. In her standout episode which happens to be the season 2 finale we get to see Green do something I've never seen to do with such confidence as Green plays Vanessa Ives opposite herself in a puppet form of Vanessa. It's really ingenious work from Green as she makes even the voiceover for the puppet as captivating to watch. Really it was no question Green would win again for me and unless some mind changing comes along she'll end up winning again for her work in the final season of the greatly underwatched Penny Dreadful.
