OUTSTANDING WRITING FOR A DRAMA SERIES

Stephen Schiff for ("The Magic of David Copperfield V. The Statue of Liberty Disappears"), The Americans
Louis C.K. for ("Episode 3"), Horace and Pete
Damon Lindelof & Nick Cuse for ("International Assassin"), The Leftovers
Damon Lindelof & Tom Perrotta for ("Lens"), The Leftovers
Jin Danger Gray & Jenji Kohan for ("Trust No Bitch"), Orange is the New Black

AND THE WINNER IS:

DAMON LINDELOF & NICK CUSE FOR ("INTERNATIONAL ASSASSIN"), THE LEFTOVERS

This is the first win for Nick Cuse and second win for Damon Lindelof. Lindelof previously won for producing Lost (2005) and was also nominated for producing Lost (2006, 2009), The Leftovers (2015) and writing Lost (2007).

It seems that the turn around from troubled show to all time great show with The Leftovers seemed to happen for half the audience however I consider myself in the minority that see season 2 as better but still loved season 1. Season 2 was almost a different story keeping some characters but the change of location and introduction of completly new characters was the most ingenious decision Lindelof and his writers could've made. International Assassin the best episode probably of the series takes the new direction to completely different standard having the entire episode occure in a hotel like purgatory. The episode is just as thrilling as the rest of the series and has some emotional highs and lows like nothing the series has ever done. The episode is the dream where writers can be so in charge of their creative risks and execute them perfectly.
