OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Shelia Atim as Mabel in “THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD”
Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness in “WANDAVISION”
Kelley Hewes as Valerie Tozer in “IT’S A SIN”
Marielle Heller as Alma Wheatley in “THE QUEEN’S GAMBIT”
Julianne Nicholson as Lori Ross in “MARE OF EASTTOWN”
Weruche Opia as Terry Pratchard in “I MAY DESTROY YOU”

AND THE WINNER IS:

SHELIA ATIM AS MABEL IN "THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD"

This is the first win and nomination for Shelia Atim. She has won for her performance as Mabel in The Underground Railroad.

Atim now becomes to third actor I'm awarding from The Underground Railroad and honestly I was close to awarding a fourth in the leading actor category. Atim as Mabel was a character largely discussed throughout the series and it wasn't until the final episode of the series where Mabel got her moment to shine. Similar to Mbedu she mostly shone in her silent moments where we got to understand why Mabel was so discussed through the majority of the series as an almost god like woman. Her standout moment came in Mabell's escape sequence where in a mostly wordless scene we just experience the physical and emotional journey her character takes through the most harrowing moment in her life. Underground Railroad has done what only the best series can and supply me with a new list of actors whose careers I will follow closely due to the excellent they displayed in this series.
