OUTSTANDING MALE ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE

Niels Arestrup as César Luciani in "A PROPHET"

Michael Fassbender as Connor O'Reily in "FISH TANK"

Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin in "THE SOCIAL NETWORK"

Mark Ruffalo as Paul Hatfield in "THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT"

Miles Teller as Jason in "RABBIT HOLE"

AND THE WINNER:

MARK RUFFALO AS PAUL HATFIELD IN "THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT"

This is the first win and second nomination for Mark Ruffalo. He was previously nominated as part of the ensemble of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004).

Ruffalo for the past decade has been one of those great "oh it's him" faces and while he's delivered some truly great performances (i.e. You Can Count on Me) but with Kids Are All Right he has been given a role that allows him to be great but many people are recognising his greatness and are willing to award him. It's such a lived in performance by Ruffalo that you almost question if he is acting or if he is just being a realistic person. It's such a cool performance that I'm confident not many actors would be capable of delivering.
