AND THE WINNER IS:

JON HAMM AS DON DRAPER FOR (“PERSON TO PERSON”) IN “MAD MEN”

This is the tenth win and twentieth nomination for Jon Hamm for his performance as Don Draper in the episode “Person to Person” on Mad Men Season 7B. He previously won for producing Mad Men (2012), acting in Mad Men (2011, 2013), 30 Rock (2009), Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015) and with the ensemble of Mad Men (2008-2009, 2012-2013), He was previously nominated for producing Mad Men (2013-2014), acting in Mad Men (2008-2010, 2012, 2014) & with the ensemble of Mad Men (2010-2011, 2014).

Again there was no question in whom I would reward with this award for Leading Actor in a Drama Series. Don Draper is iconic as drama characters get for me and with his work in the final seven episodes of Mad Men Jon Hamm was able to show the incredible talent he possesses to play such an unlikeable character and make him as captivating as he was. Hamm really knew how to get every convlicted emotion from this character and in the series finale of the show we see everything of Draper’s past, present and future come together to form the perfect sendoff for the character and for Hamm’s performance. The standout moments in Hamm’s performance for me came in his phone calls between the three women of his life and how Hamm played each so uniquely that there was no question the great journey the character has been on as well as the journey Hamm has been on as an actor in crafting this wonderful performance.
