AND THE WINNER IS:

CARLY WRAY & MATTHEW WEINER FOR (“THE MILK AND HONEY ROUTE”), MAD MEN

This is the second win for Carly Wray and eighth win for Matthew Weiner for their writing of the episode “The Milk and Honey Route” in Mad Men Season 7. Wray and Weiner previously won together for writing Mad Men (2013) and Weiner also won for producing The Sopranos (2004), Mad Men (2008-2009, 2012) and writing Mad Men (2008, 2011). Wray was previously nominated for writing Mad Men (2014) and Weiner was previous nominated for producing The Sopranos (2007), Mad Men (2010-2011, 2013-2014), directing Mad Men (2008, 2010, 2012) and writing The Sopranos (2004, 2007) and Mad Men (2008, 2009 (2), 2010, 2012, 2014).

Mad Men was and will always be my favourite television show of all time and one of it’s strongest parts for the seven (eight) seasons it aired on television was it’s writing. Again I have to reward the writers of the show for a single episode but honestly any episode of the show would be my favourite to win but when I think back on these final seven episodes the best for me was “The Milk and Honey Route” written by the team of Carly Wray and Matthew Weiner. The episode paid off the years of the bickering mother/daughter relationship between Betty and Sally and also showed us Don retuning to living off his own means and also Pete get his happy ending with Trudy. Each of these three main stories of the episode were so brillantly told and really worked well together to form both the most uplifting and most depressing episode ever of the series. Such clever writing and brillantly story made for my favourite dramatic episode written of this past tv season.
