AND THE WINNER IS:

CARRIE COON AS NORA DURST FOR (“GUEST”) IN “THE LEFTOVERS”

This is the first win and nomination for Carrie Coon for her performance as Nora Durst in the episode “Guest” on The Leftovers Season 1.

Going into HBO’s The Leftovers I had no expectations for anything involving the season but to my surprise it became one of the biggest surprises of the tv season and one person came to the top of my favourite things to watch on television and that person was Carrie Coon. Coon is a stage actress who has impressed in that medium before but once The Leftovers episode “Guest” hit there was no turning back for me and I became a self proclaimed superfan of Coon wanting to see her out in everything to come for her. Her work in the episode is just astonshing where we see this clearly depressed women try to get on with the rest of her life while we are quite aware of all she’s lost and how difficult it must be to continue on living. There is never a false note in Coon’s performance which made for a greatly satisfying episode as well as one of the best tv performances seen on television duing 2014 and 2015.
