This is the first win and nomination for Eliza Scanlen.
Like many I came into watching Sharp Objects for the casting combination of Amy Adams and Patricia Clarkson. However, after watching the show the one true star whose turn I'll never forget is that of Eliza Scanlen. Playing Amma she was so in control of the character creation of the free natured towards the beginning of the series and the deeply upsetting hurt felt while her character was being punished by her mother near the end of the season. *SPOILER ALERT* The season end reveal that it was Amma all along makes the performance given by Scanlen even greater as we grew to love Amma seeing her as an innocent victim. However with this reveal she was the true villain of the piece made this choice to reward her even easier.

I was not a fan of Sharp Objects but Scanlen was absolutely nomination-worthy, at least.
