OUTSTANDING WRITING FOR A COMEDY SERIES

Pamela Adlon for (“Chicago”), Better Things
Rob Delaney & Sharon Horgan for (“Episode 6”), Catastrophe
Phoebe Waller-Bridge for (“Episode 1”), Fleabag
Debbie Wolfe for (“The Funeral”), One Day at a Time
Chris Kelly & Saran Schneider for (“Chase Drops His First Album”), The Other Two

AND THE WINNER IS:

PHOEBE WALLER-BRIDGE FOR ("EPISODE 1"), FLEABAG

This is the first win and third nomination for Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She was previously nominated for Fleabag (2017) and writing Killing Eve (2018).

If you've never watched a single second of Fleabag (at this point I can't think of anyone who hasn't) just watch this single season two episode and appreciate it's brillance. Every beat in this one episode is perfectly delivered which had me cackling the entire 25-30 mins the episode runs. Olivia Colman as the unnamed godmother especially stands out as she expertly deliver's so much of her dialogue. I could certainly return to this episode again and again as it almost acts like a mini television movie. Waller-Bridge is one of the most exciting writers currently working and I look forward to what she does next following her chosen conclusion to the Fleabag character.
