AND THE WINNER IS:

MATTHEW J. LLOYD FOR (“INTO THE RING”), DAREDEVIL

This is the first win and nomination for Matthew J. Lloyd for his cinematography work for Daredevil Season 1 episode “Into the Ring”.

Going into Daredevil I wasn’t sure of the creative control the production team would be allowed to have because of previous Marvel Studios works but after watching this first episode it was clear all those involved were doing their jobs to the best of their opinions. Matthew J. Lloyd’s work for the show was one of the standouts of the entire series and it was clear from the first episode the unique and beautiful design he took to filming Hell’s Kitchen. Most of the episode/series was set at night and never was I unable to see the action because of the lighting done by Lloyd. His unique work really sets a standard for how action can be lit and also using different techniques to form light it made for some of the year’s most exciting and best cinematography.
