AND THE WINNER IS:

JON HAMM AS REVERAND RICHARD WAYNE GARY WAYNE FOR (“KIMMY RIDES A BIKE!”) IN “UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT

This is the fifth win and thirteenth nomination for Jon Hamm for his performance as Reverand Richard Wayne Gary Wayne in the episode “Kimmy Rides a Bike!” on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 1. He previously won for producing Mad Men (2012), acting in Mad Men (2011, 2013) and 30 Rock (2009). He was previously nominated for producing Mad Men (2013-2014) & acting in Mad Men (2008-2010, 2012, 2014).

Jon Hamm is just as talented a comedian as he is a dramatic actor but for his role as Reverand Richard Wayne Gary Wayne he went full out comedy and was so brillant in this guest starring role on Kimmy Schmidt. Playing the villianess cult leader being in trial as his own lawyer the natural charm Hamm brings to the character really made this performance as wildly comedic as it was. In his standout episode we see him seemingly winning his case with a rather gulible bunch of people on the jury and as the apposing lawyers. Hamm just relishes in this performance which is why it was one of the strongest points of this first season of the show and shows once again the wide variety of skills Hamm has as an actor.
