OUTSTANDING LEADING ACTOR IN A MINISERIES OR MOVIE

Hugh Jackman as Frank Tassone in “BAD EDUCATION”
Rory Kinnear as Stephen Lyons in “YEARS AND YEARS”
Paul Mescal as Conell Waldron in “NORMAL PEOPLE”
Jeremy Pope as Archie Coleman in “HOLLYWOOD”
Morgan Spector as Herman Levin in “THE PLOT AGAINST AMERICA”
Russell Tovey as Daniel Lyons in “YEARS AND YEARS”

AND THE WINNER IS:

PAUL MESCAL AS CONELL WALDRON IN "NORMAL PEOPLE"

This is the first win and nomination for Paul Mescal.

This was probably the easiest choice I was gonna make this year because while I managed to compile a list of six performances in this category it was the one given by Mescal that no question was the best eligible in the category. He's a great performer and with his work as Conell is bound for a bright career to come. The above therapy scenes is such a great moment delivered by an actor that I almost would've rewarded him just for that moment. Mescal is the rare male actor who believably delivered a heartbreaking and confident turn that earned him the awards recognition he has received so far.
