AND THE WINNER IS:

GLENN FREEMANTLE & MITCH LOW FOR EX MACHINA

This is the first win for Glenn Freemantle & Mitch Low. Freemantle was previously nominated for Gravity (2013).

Ex Machina continued through 2015 to be one of the years greatest achievements. For such a low budget feature it’s quite stunning how amazing this feature is put together in terms of production. The sound quality of the final product was above all for the year. The unique sounds of Ava were put in well during the Ava session scenes as she would move around and the dialogue and sound was very well mixed together in this scene. Then there would be the dance scene I would call out in particular for it’s great sound mix where even through loud disco music the actors and every other sound is very well placed which makes the scene as special as it is. Overall the sound mix of this film is beyond and really many low budget and big budget films should look to this sound work for when it’s done best.
