AND THE WINNER IS:

ANDREW JACKSON, TOM WOOD, DAN OLIVER & ANDY WILLIAMS FOR MAD MAX: FURY ROAD

This is the first with Andrew Jackson, Tom Wood, Dan Oliver & Andy Williams for their visual effects work on Mad Max: Fury Road. This is also Jackson, Oliver & Williams first nomination while Wood was previously nominated for Sunshine (2007).

While Mad Max has been praised all along for it’s defining practical look even included some of the great practical effects ever seen on screen these practical moments are only added upon by the work of these men as they add to greatly visual post-apocaliptic world these characters inhabit. Whether it’s the great dust storm the drivers find themselves in or it’s the great driving scenes which while practically driven are made the better by the visual effects added on top of those ones. Really the crafted world of Mad Max is just so special there was no other choice for brillaintly visually entrancing films.
