OUTSTANDING DIRECTOR

Asghar Farhadi for A Seperation

Terrence Malick for The Tree of Life

Steve McQueen for Shame

Martin Scorsese for Hugo

Lars Von Trier for Melancholia

AND THE WINNER IS…..

TERRENCE MALICK FOR THE TREE OF LIFE

Last Year’s Winner: Darren Aronofsky for Black Swan

With three awards left to present after this one we are getting down to the wire. The winner of my director prize this year is a previous two time director winner from me also being nominated another time, so now with four director nominations he has won three director prizes. The runner up this year is Martin Scorsese for his explorative work for “Hugo”, in this film he worked with 3D for the first time and unlike most films in 3D he actually took the new style of medium and added so much more that this is the first time the technique has been well mastered.

In the end I picked the legendary Terrence Malick for his masterful work for “The Tree of Life“, the film event that is film was has been coming for so many years as Malick took his time in developing the film the way he did. His camera techniques were at his career best with his many iconic shots throughout the film and this film really his best from every point of this beautiful piece of work which is why he became my winner.
