OUTSTANDING FILM EDITING

Walter Fasano for A Bigger Splash
Sophie Corra for Love & Friendship
Nat Sanders & Joi McMillon for Moonlight
Bret Granato, Maya Mumma & Ben Sozanski for O.J. Made in America
Louise Ford for The Witch

AND THE WINNER IS:

NAT SANDERS & JOI MCMILLON FOR MOONLIGHT

These are the first wins and nominations for Nat Sanders and Joi McMillon. They win for their extremely expert editing of Moonlight.

Moonlight is the cinematic find of the year, full of wonder and reality in a time where we as a world are going through the hardest of times. For a film clearly broken into three distinct chapters as the film carried on I never felt the shift as the central character of Chiron grew older. This comes down to the editing by Sanders and McMillon, they attach these three chapters so well together that as the characters grow I took it as a natural change and my interest was kept the entire time. An editing really is a high achievement as the film flows through it's distinct movements and it's win with any organisation for editing would be so deserved.
