OUTSTANDING ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY

Richard Linklater for Everbody Wants Some!!
Noah Oppenheim for Jackie
Efthimis Filippou & Yorgos Lanthimos for The Lobster
Maren Ade for Toni Erdmann
Robert Eggers for The Witch

AND THE WINNER IS:

NOAH OPPENHEIM FOR JACKIE

This is the first win and nomination for Noah Oppenheim for his screenplay Jackie.
Jackie has been praised to the heavens for Natalie performance (reflected in the films awards season run) but there are many more elements to the film that make it great and they should not be overlooked. Oppenheim's script being ignored is beyond me as the scripting is so ingenius that it baffles me post the Venice praise people have overlooked it. The script's structure of having the horrifying JFK assassination told through interview flashback is a great choice for the film and really makes this unconventional biopic stand out even more. Whether it's the reveal of the actual assassination on the day or the many moments of Jackie parading her way through the white house is expertly scripted so props to Noah Oppenheim for his ingenious screenplay.
