These are the first wins for Stephane Ceretti, Richard Bluff, Vincent Cirelli & Paul Corbould. This is Bluff and Cirelli's first nominations. Corbould was previously nominated for Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). Ceretti was previously nominated for Cloud Atlas (2012) & Guardians of the Galaxy (2014).

While I might not've outright loved Doctor Strange in no way can I say the special effects were bad. Like the source material comic book the visual drop off the screen. The effects were so mind bending and challenging that while I was never fully invested by the "plot" I couldn't stop looking at the screen as this odd visual superhero look kept moving I was pulled in. Truly great work by this team and probably the best overall visual effects in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe so far.
