OUTSTANDING COSTUME DESIGN

AND THE WINNER:

PAUL TAZEWELL FOR WEST SIDE STORY

This is the first win and nomination for Paul Tazewell.

The 1961 adaptation of West Side Story features some of the greatest film costume designs (evident by its academy award win) and Tazewell's task of reimagining Story's costume design was definitely a hard task for anyone. Tazewell's work was thankfully excellent and very worthy of being considered great alongside the 1961 costume designer. Probably the greatest choice was the reinventions of Anita's twirling skirts especially because the original designs are so iconic and the change of colour fit in so much better with this films version of the character in her standout dancing moments. So many great designs throughout and such excellent work by Paul Tazewell.
