AND THE WINNER:
MIKE MILLS FOR C'MON, C'MON
This is the first win and nomination for Mike Mills.
Mike Mills has shown again and again the skill he has as a filmmaker. With his latest C'mon, C'mon he has hit it great again with a film of great heart. Again we have a personal tale from Mills as he this time centres the film around another family member. My main reasoning for awarding it my screenplay prize is because of how beautiful and natural many of the interview scenes are in this film. The film could possible become repetitive with how many times there were montaged interviews with young kids but I believe with Mills strong screenplay everything flowed well and I was never left bored.
