JONNY GREENWOOD FOR THE POWER OF THE DOG
This is the second win and sixth/seventh nomination for Jonny Greenwood. He previously won for There Will Be Blood (2007). He was also nominated for The Master (2012), Inherent Vice (2014), Phantom Thread (2017), You Were Never Really Here (2018) & Spencer (2021).
It's impressive how many projects Greenwood was involved with this year and what is most impressive is how each outting featured great work from him. I knew he would be my winner it was just deciding between his nominated works. What made me lean towards Power of the Dog was how seamless the score fell into the rest of the film. It was noticeable for it's instrumentation but when I think of scenes of the film the score helps to give emotion to the scenes and wasn't standing out in a way that distracted. Again another great score from Greenwood who just proves again and again why he is one of the best working out there.
