PRODUCTION DESIGN BY STEFAN DECHANT; SET DECORATION BY NANCY HAIGH FOR THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH
These are the first wins for Stefan Dechant & Nancy Haigh. Haigh was previously nominated for The Truman Show (1998), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) & Dreamgirls (2006).
2021's version of Macbeth while not the most original idea for a film doesn't mean there isn't a lot to love about it. There was so much to appreciate about the design of this film with its production design and sets being one of the most impressive parts of the film. The design was so theatrical which I really appreciated and helped to make this 2021 production standout. I especially loved the Macbeth castle where the majority of the film is set, it was just a spectacular set piece that kept revealing more of itself as the play continued to move.
