OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES

Riz Ahmed as Paul-Louis for ("All I Ever Wanted") in "GIRLS"
Scott Bakula as Scott Bakula for ("The Gang Turns Black") in "IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA"
Josh Charles as Duke Snyder for ("Kimmy is a Feminist!") in "UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT!"
Daveed Diggs as Johan Johnson for ("God") in "BLACK-ISH"
Santino Fontana as Greg Serrano for ("When Will Josh and His Friend Leave Me Alone?") in "CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND"
Matthew Rhys as Chuck Palmer for ("American Bitch") in "GIRLS"

AND THE WINNER IS:

MATTHEW RHYS AS CHUCK PALMER FOR ("AMERICAN BITCH") IN "GIRLS"

This is the first win and sixth nomination for Matthew Rhys. He was previously nominated for The Americans (2013-2016) and with the ensemble of The Americans (2014). He now wins for his performance as Chuck Palmer on Girls.

Girls for it's entire run has given some underrated actors the chance to stretch themselves and give us a different performance than we would've expected from them. Matthew Rhys like many before him was up for anything when he came on Girls. While not the most comedic performance he gave what I consider to be a great guest performance that just happened to be featured on a comedy series. He played a somewhat unlikeable guy that as we get to know him. Rhys just puts natural charisma into his performance and I almost wanted us to visit him again as he played the role so well opposite series creator Lena Dunham.
